Everything about PriceFair Circles: Founding Member status, member ratings, voting, succession, privacy. Operational depth for prospects who want the full picture before joining.
Three things compound in your favor every month you're a member:
(1) Founding rate lock — $0/month forever, available only until your trade is taken in your town.
(2) Rating accumulation — every Boost Request you fulfill, every cross-referral your Circle confirms, builds your public PriceFair rating. Members joining six months later have to catch up.
(3) Network density — as more members join your Circle, every member's slot becomes more valuable.
Wait six months. Your town fills up. Founding rates gone in your trade. Other providers have rating mass while you don't. Same $20/month, smaller compounding effect.
Joining now is free. Joining later costs you the gap.
Founding Members lock the launch rate permanently — $0/month, forever, as long as they remain an active member of their category.
This isn't a discount. It's a permanent rate lock available only while your town's category slot is empty. Once another provider in your trade signs up first and locks your category, the founding rate is gone in your town. Forever.
The free Founding Member rate applies to one category in one town. Each additional category or town is $20/month.
Pay-per-lead platforms charge $40-60 per qualified lead. One bad week costs you $200-400. They profit when you struggle to convert.
PriceFair charges $20/month, period. Whether your Circle sends you 1 customer or 30, you pay $20. You keep 100% of every customer relationship. No bidding wars, no commissions, no surprise charges.
Lead-gen platforms profit from your friction. PriceFair profits from your network growing.
Founding Member status applies to one category in one town. If you want to participate in additional categories within the same town, those are billed at $20/month each.
Example: You're a Founding Member for Plumbing in Manalapan ($0/mo). You also want HVAC in Manalapan. The HVAC slot is $20/mo because your free Founding Member status only covers your one founding category.
Yes. Each Founding Member status applies to one category in one town, but you can be a Founding Member of multiple Circles in different towns simultaneously. Each one is free as long as you remain an active member in that town.
Example: Founding Member for Plumbing in Manalapan AND Founding Member for Plumbing in Marlboro. Both free. Two independent statuses.
Yes. No contracts, no minimums. Cancel from your Settings page at any time. Your membership runs through the end of the current billing cycle, then stops. Your slot opens for the next provider in your category in your town — typically the next person on the waitlist.
If you cancel as a Founding Member, your free status converts to standard membership ($20/month) on the next billing cycle. No refund or credit for the current cycle.
When a Manalapan resident posts on Facebook "Anyone know a good plumber?" — every PriceFair member in that town sees it. The plumber gets the referral within minutes. Same for HVAC, electrical, locksmith, every trade.
Members refer each other on Facebook neighborhood groups, Nextdoor, in-person — because referring you brings them their own customers next time. The math compounds: the more members in your Circle, the more eyes spotting opportunities for everyone.
Boost Requests are the in-app version: any member can flag a referral opportunity, every Circle member sees it instantly via SMS and email. The targeted member gets credit and can attribute the resulting customer back to the referrer.
Every Boost Request you fulfill, every customer attribution your Circle confirms — builds your PriceFair rating. Star average. TrustScore. Public on your profile.
Ratings require mutually-confirmed interactions. Both parties confirm the interaction happened (boost completion, cross-platform referral attribution) before either can rate. This eliminates fake ratings.
You see star averages on a member's profile only after 3 unique raters. Below the quorum, profiles show a "New Member" badge. Coordinated rating attempts trigger automatic dampening (reciprocal-rating defense, velocity caps, authority weighting).
When PriceFair adds the consumer-facing marketplace, your accumulated rating mass is your asymmetric advantage. Every later provider starts from zero.
PriceFair Proof is the public, verifiable rating layer. Star ratings backed by mutually-confirmed Circle interactions, displayed on member profiles. Anyone can look up a PriceFair member and see their accumulated proof.
Disputes are private resolution between two members and the platform. Used when a Circle interaction goes wrong — for example, one party doesn't follow through on a confirmed referral, or there's a disagreement about attribution. Disputes don't appear on public profiles. They're handled directly with PriceFair support and resolve to either restoration of trust or a private mediation outcome.
Public reputation lives in Proof. Private resolution lives in Disputes. Different surfaces, different purposes.
Each Circle is private to its town. Town directory pages (e.g., /manalapan-nj) show which categories are filled and which slots are open in each Circle, plus a public member count once the Circle has crossed 5 members.
You can't browse the inside of a neighboring Circle. You can only see structural information: town, categories filled, slots open, recruiting status. The internal feed (Boost Requests, member ratings, dashboard activity) is members-only by design.
This is intentional. PriceFair's value is local network density, not directory coverage. We're not a master listing service.
No. PriceFair Circles are self-governing peer networks. There are no platform moderators, no human content reviewers, and no member with elevated privileges over the others.
Every governance action — pinning a post, saving a resource, removing a member — happens through community voting using the "Back" button. PriceFair as a platform handles only the $20/month transaction layer and basic abuse safeguards (CAPTCHA, phone verification, payment fraud).
The first business to sign up in a town's Circle for a given trade is its Founding Member. They get two things: a permanent badge on their profile, and a permanent $0/month rate lock for that one category in that one town.
That's the entire benefit. Founding Members have zero special powers over content, voting, other members' visibility, or anything else inside the Circle. They vote with the same Back button as everyone else, at the same weight as everyone else.
Every governance action uses the Back button — the same affirmative vote signal used to elevate posts. Thresholds are computed dynamically as a percentage of active members (logged in within the last 30 days):
Pin a post: 25% of active members back it. Pinned posts surface at the top of the feed for 7 days.
Save to Resources: 50% of active members back the post. It moves to the Resources tab as canonical knowledge.
Add a new tag: 25% of active members back the proposal.
Remove a member: 66% supermajority of active members back the concern motion within a 7–14 day window. Minimum floor of 5 backs regardless of percentage. See the next item.
Yes — by community vote, never by a moderator or admin. Any active member can open a concern motion from another member's card on the dashboard. The proposer's name and reason (max 280 chars) become visible to every active Circle member, including the targeted member, who can post a public response in the motion thread.
The motion stays open for 7–14 days. If 66% of active members back the motion AND at least 7 days have elapsed, the motion passes. If 14 days pass without reaching the threshold, it expires with no action.
If a motion passes: the targeted member's Stripe subscription is set to cancel at the end of the current billing period. They keep access through the period they paid for. No early cutoff. No refund. Their slot opens to the waitlist when the period ends. They cannot rejoin the same Circle (same trade + same town) for 6 months. They can join other Circles freely — removal is local to the specific peer group, not a platform-wide ban.
Cooling-off: a target who survives a failed motion cannot be re-targeted for 60 days. A proposer whose motion fails cannot open a new one for 30 days. These windows exist to prevent weaponized petty motions.
Simple majority (50% +1) feels political and tribal. Removing a member is irreversible from their perspective for 6 months. Anything irreversible deserves a higher bar — supermajority feels like genuine consensus rather than a slim faction's preference.
The minimum floor of 5 backs (regardless of percentage) prevents 2-person Circles from being weaponized. Small Circles default to higher absolute thresholds, not lower percentage thresholds.
Never. PriceFair doesn't sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your phone number and email are visible only to your Circle members (so they can refer you and notify you of opportunities). Toggle off SMS or email notifications anytime in Settings.
If you connect your Google Business Profile via OAuth, we read only your aggregate Google rating and review count — never the individual reviews, never write access, never act on your behalf in Google. The connection can be revoked from Google's account permissions page at any time.
Vote responses are stored in our database, but only aggregate results (how many yes/no/abstain) are visible to other members. Individual votes are private.
